Alex is a native of Albany, Georgia where he was a stand-out basketball player at Dougherty High School.  After graduating from Dougherty in 1986, he received a Basketball scholarship offer to attend Anderson Jr. College in Anderson, South Carolina. In 1988 he received an Associates of Arts degree in Business Administration and was offered a Basketball scholarship to attend Kennesaw State University in Kennesaw, Georgia.  While attending KSU, Alex, a point guard led the Owls to their first winning season in school history.  At one time Alex was the All-time career Assist Leader, posted most assist in a game and had the highest career average for assist.

After graduating from Kennesaw State, he started a career in Education.  His first job (1993) was in the Thomasville City Schools System, Thomasville, Ga. at Harper Elementary School where he was an assistant football/basketball coach for Thomasville High School.  In 1994 he left Harper Elementary and went to the Pelham City School System, Pelham, Ga where he became the Head Boys’ basketball and assistant football coach.  In 1996, he retuned back to Thomasville High School as the Head Boys’ basketball coach. 

In 1999, Alex married Joy Jackson and relocated to Indianapolis, IN.  He was able to secure a job in the Perry Metropolitan School District at Southport Middle School.  At Southport, Alex was the Head Football and Basketball Coach.  In 2000, Alex left Southport and accepted a position in the Pike Metropolitan Township at Lincoln Middle School where he was the Head Girls’ basketball coach and posted a 16-0 record in 2000.

In 2002 Alex and Joy relocated to Conyers, Georgia.  Alex accepted a position at Conyers Middle School where he was an assistant football coach and 9th grade basketball coach at Rockdale County High School.  In 2003, Alex accepted the Head Boys Basketball position as Rockdale County High School.  In 2007, Alex transitioned away from high school athletics when he accepted a position in administration at Rockdale County High School.

Since 2007, Alex has been in Administration in the Rockdale County School System.  He has walked the halls at Rockdale County High School, Open Campus School and Alpha Academy where he has been the Principal for the past 3½ years.
